In my town, the local hardware store's offerings - oh, and no delivery available. I can get as good, or better, from a BBS for less. Although, I must admit, the jury is still out on Still River since they are new, but the price doesn't make it worth it for me to experiment.

Disclaimer: I've only used Curran's and GS, so don't have direct experience with the rest. Just going by memory of what general consensus of the pellets are. And, I am by no means knocking them if you use them, as I use fairly crap pellets on a regular basis (working my way thru about 3/4 ton left from last year. But at $270/ton, I can get them cheaper at BBS.

I got the same email from Aubuchon's. Certainly won't be buying from them with these choices.

I find when I talk to different hardware stores, they know very little about burning wood pellets.

The local stove shop has the same chit - for even more money and no delivery. Of course they are more a gas or wood fireplace shop with woodstoves and pellet stoves thrown in. Even when we had an actual pellet stove dealer, he had the Currans last year for more than they are going for now at the hardware store (and that is all he carried). W

The same price at my area HD, but still cheaper than the hardware store. Plus, using my HD credit card, I get 5% off which makes it about $246/ton. The blue store gives contractor pricing 7% off for buying 50+ bags. So either way, BBS is cheaper by $25/ton. If I could get deliver (really, I'm a mile away), I would get it from my local shops. If they carried better stuff, I would buy from local shops. But, for me BBS is the better option so far. You never know, when TSC moves in, maybe the local guys will get better stuff and/or pricing.
