I'm going to be installing a stove in the next few weeks and I'm scrambling to draw up a plan for the town building department and order venting.
I have two conflicting requirements:
Stove vent termination clearance is 1' to windows, 2' under below overhangs.
Two questions:

I have two conflicting requirements:
- I want the stove in the middle of the living room wall so it will blow down the hall to the bedrooms.
- I want to vent out and up so I can keep it close to the wall for extra space, and to evacuate smoke when the power goes out. Power goes out several times a year, and I don't want a smoke-stained living room if the stove shuts off while we're at work or asleep.
Stove vent termination clearance is 1' to windows, 2' under below overhangs.
Two questions:
- Can I angle the clean out T at 45 degrees to accomplish this, or does the T need to be installed straight up and down?
- In your opinion, how bad will this look?
