I am running a brand new p68,i am used to the harmans as I had a accentra insert a few years at my old house.
I been running in room temp and the burn pot, today, just kept filling with pellets, they was burning, but a lot of hot coals in the pot...was full, seems it kept feeding and feeding.
I am going to let it shut down, unplug it from outlet....then fire it up in stove mode.
I even turned the feed rate down to 3...no change.
Anyone seen this before?

What was the feed rate when the hot pellets were over flowing?

I want to know what ALL the stove settings are........feeder, temp, auto/manual, mode....also, what is the setup of the actual unit?

I posted this on another thread, but a similar thing happened to me and it turned out the screen on my outside vent was clogged with ash. Is it brand new like you just put 5 bags through, or brand new this burning season?

It takes a little while for your stove to adjust when you change the settings. Make sure everything is clean, and all your venting is clear, read the manual and start from scratch. The sticky on this Harman sticky is a must read also.

Ok it was on room temp, set at 75...manual,feed rate at 5..been running like this for many days.
Then...it was like it wouldn't stop feeding, the burn pot filled up full of coals...all pellets were being burnt, but it was overflowing with hot embers falling into ash pan.
Turned feed rate down to 4...same thing.
When I went to bed,i had temp down to 73-74,feed rate down to 2 ignition in manual, got up and it seems normal.
So...now I have it at stove temp 4,ignition auto, feed rate at 3....gonna see what happens.
This all of a sudden happened yesterday afternoon.
It wasn't spilling unburnt pellets into ash pan....the whole burnpot was overflowing with hot coals.
Like I said,i have experience with Harman stoves....this stove is my first year with it,i had a accentra insert before

Is the stove used or fresh out the box?

How's it running now in stove temp? ESP could be dirty or something withe room temp probe.

I checked the connection for the room prob, seems fine.
It seems to be ok in stove mode,i just now turned the feed rate up to 4...gonna see what happens...I had it on 3 and all seems normal.
Last night I was so alarmed as I had never seen this...but,my accentra insert was run in stove mode all the time cause it wasn't big enough...so I needed the constant heat...but still...never seen a burnpot chucker block full of hot coals so much it was spilling them over the edge.
On cold mornings I even ran my insert on stove temp 7 and feed rate at 6 and still didn't come close to that

Maybe it's going to correct itself. Hope it works out for ya.

We had a similar issue when we first got the stove. 2008
The temp sensor was coiled up behind the stove and on the floor.
To test it, I opened a window and put the sensor outside and watched the feed/fire.
It did ramp the feed rate up.
Next I held the sensor in front of the warm air coming out of the stove.
The feed rate dropped off.
So after seeing that the stove responded properly, I figured that our floor where the sensor
was located was cold.

I relocated the sensor to the oppisite corner of the room. 12X12 ft
It is hanging on the wall thermostat. Problem solved.
All connections were soldered as I had to use more wire for the extra lenght.
There is a length limit. Book has that info.

Good Luck!

What year was your Accentra insert?

When running room temp, you are better off setting to auto. IMHO, feed rate of 5 seems way too high and could cause this issue. Set it and forget about it.

You said that you have burned a ton but have not mentioned a full cleaning, including venting and especially the ESP. Has that been done?

What brand of pellets are you using?

Ok...I called Rockys and it turns out....the exhaust screen was plugged...I thought that was a once a year cleaning, but guess not. I used about 25 bags of mwp blend to start the year, and noticed they are more dirty than normal this year.
I am currently using Crabbes....which seem nice,hot,clean

Hope you can get her all cleaned up before the snow flies

Hope that works out....its also probably time to clean that venting, not just the end cap screen. Best to get that on your to do list sooner than later.

Also makes me think to do outside now and check my screen. Give it a quick wipe down anyway.

Seem to be good people at Rocky's. I talked with them a few years ago when a friend was looking at XXV and Accentra.

Havnt seen Crabbes around here at all. Good luck and stay warm ! !

Sigh, I am not ready for real snow removal (mentally that is...the snow blower is all fueled up)..but cant do anything about it.

Yup,while waiting for my stove to cool down so I could clean the exchanger and exhaust,i filled and fired my snowblower up as well

Me either. The thought of getting up in the middle of the night to plow is haunting me.

If you like the Crabbés, you'll really like the LGs. I've got 2 tons of Crabbés from Rocky's and just picked up a ton of LGs at Knights Feed, just across from Rocky's. They are both soft super premium from Canada, but the LGs I think are spruce, and burn just a hair cleaner than the Crabbés. Both have no fines, and the clear bag of the LG will show that there are no fines. Also if you pick up pallets, the LG pallet is much better covered with multiple layers. That's no knock on Crabbé, as I like them both, and since they're priced about the same, just thought you might like em.

I have heard of the LGs, havnt tried them...I have used LeCretes and liked them a lot...there is a guy in town here( Skowhegan) that sells them....he will bring them on his trailer free then I have to unload them. That's about the same price as having rockys deliver Crabbes...I had a 400$ credit at rockys, that why I went with them this year.
Crabbes has been working well...I just wished it was a different name.....LOL
