Another Jotul Firelight 12 in the house...

A few weeks ago, I mentioned I picked up a third stove, another 3 cu.ft. Jotul F12. This one is in the basement now, directly below F12 no.2, installed last year. I guess what they say about going black isn't always true.

I understand finding something you like and 'needing' multiples...I have the same problem, just not with woodstoves.
Tell us more about the white connector pipe. Stove bright?

The stove pipe (actually, about 12 feet of the stuff) came from the previous owner of the stove (who also happened to be the previous owner of this house). I am sure he purchased it new with the stove, 20 years ago.

Funny story I forgot to relay, this stove used to reside in the kitchen of our house, but was removed and installed in another old farm house 15 years ago. So, now it's back where it started... one floor down.

mellow, you know... this might be the most FB12's residing in a single place since they stopped production more than 10 years ago!

Love my F12! One of the only items I ever purchased (major purchase), no research, didn't look at any other stoves but loved the looks and size. Nailed it!

LOL! Yep... mud-stacked stone walls, 18" - 24" thick. Stone veneer technology hadn't quite made it to the rural Philly 'burbs by 1773.

No fire in this one! That pipe ain't connected to anything. The thimble for this room is actually on the front of the fireplace, upper left corner. In fact, it has been covered with a stone (can you find it?). This stove was purchased as a spare, to move into location or rob for parts, in case of a mid-winter failure in one of the other two. The seller wanted less than the cost of the cat chamber component alone, so I couldn't pass it up!

If I wanted to burn it, I'd have to pull it out in front of the fireplace (near where the table sits now) to connect it into the thimble.

hahahaha sounds familiar. Like people who come into my house and will look at the exposed framing "wow that's so well done it almost looks real!"

Heh... I guess I should say, then: those overhead rough beams are what holds up my floor, not decoration! They are randomly oak, walnut, and chestnut. The one across the top of the fireplace is walnut, as mentioned in last year's thread of me extending the hearth above.

That basement makes the big Jotul look tiny. Reminds me of the historic mansions I toured in Alabama as a kid. Fireplaces in nearly every room and I remember something about cast iron irons that were warmed by the fire and round rocks that were warmed and then put under the covers at the foot of the beds.
