Is it mulberry?

cut a limb, if it is yellow inside - it is mulberry, the yellow will turn rust colored in a short time. The sapwood will be relatively thin and white. Mulberry usually spits easy.
 
Looks like another Blackgum to me. If you cut the other one, how did it split? I see 'em here, but not a dead one that I would cut yet...

I'm afraid your right. I didn't cut the other one. Just can't see cutting any gum with all the trees I've got to choose from. I still haven't got the ids down quite yet but I'm getting there

Those dark-green, slightly thickened, shiny leaves always jump out at me when I see a Black Tupe. I'm the same way, don't want to mess with it really, but would check it out if one fell in the yard. I saw a trunk of a small either Sweet or Blackgum when I was cutting behind my SILs'; I may throw that on the heap for them to split, and watch to see what happens. ;lol

All the different mulberries have small serrated teeth on the edge(margins) of the leaves. If you are out hunting for mulberry look up when they flower.
I saw a red tractor in the pic, what is it?
