Apex42 cat

I have a FPX Apex42 with a catalytic converter. My question is with the cats active should I be getting secondary burns or just the cats glowing? Sometimes I will get a burst of secondary flames but I have seen videos of cats with secondary flames for long periods of times and no they are not the hybrid with secondary tubes. Thanks for any info

This sounds pretty normal. A lot has to do with the amount of wood and air the fire has, the stage of the fire, and the strength of the draft.
