So I redid our kitchen and bought Samsung appliances from Lowes. There's a loose hose or something in the refrig so it rattles like crazy when you use the water or it fills to make ice. So take a day off to wait for the service supposed to come 12-5. So 5 min ago they call to cancel...what, what? &^%$#$@%$^$@!

Unbelievable, oh they can come tomorrow, promise.

Eeee.. That's not great service.

However around here if you need a cable guy, they say "someone will be there between 8-4". And they won't call before coming..what if you work??

Modern life, with respect to service we put up with things that our father's never had to. The customer is always right? I've heard that phrase but it has no meaning .

Can you live with it for a bit? New company I am working for is getting authorized Samsung ;)

*shameless plug :p *

Well it's under warranty through Lowes for now but in the future...

Its under warranty for the first year through the manufacturer, after that, the Lowes/ NEW contract kicks in.

Yes I think that's right. I set up service through Lowes but it's Samsung warranty. Did not buy extended on the fridge.

I hoed that road with sears a few years ago with a refrigerator. Some A.E. services. They only csme to our area on Friday's between the hours of 8-5 nothing narrower than a 8hr window. They would FINALLY show up look at the unit, order some parts, have them shipped to my house and make an appointment to come out to install the said aforementioned parts which meant another day of waiting. I went through two compressors like this and finally bought a new one......GOOD LUCK

I had exactly the same experience, and yes it was A.E. services. Bought an LG french door from Home depot(they had the best lo -cost extended warranty) A.E. was there 6 times for the same repair. This LG loves to break down. Glad i have the extended warranty. I already got about $500 worth of repairs(ice maker) under the $99 extended warranty. And $800 worth under the factory warranty (every moving part). All in 1 Yr.

The hose behind mine rattles, I just fixed it by twist tying it to the chassis in a couple places.

Just checked the email confirmation and it's A&E.

I thought it was the feed line at first too and tried strapping it and so forth but it's coming from the top of the box. Backed off the supply line and that helped for w while but its back and the water comes out too slow.

Oofa! Good luck bud! I knew more about the fridge than the service man. Same dude came to " fix" the washer. I let him come in look at it and order the parts. When the parts showed up I installed them myself. I couldn't afford to take another day off just to sit around and wait for them.

Seems like they just take a guess and order parts. First guy did not test anything, just said its usually the main board and ordered a new one. Well 3 weeks later he puts the new board in and guess what ,same problem. then comes back again and took another guess,no good again. The third time he just ordered every part he did not already replace
figuring well he has got to find it sooner or later. After the third try and every possible part was changed out of a brand new french door fridge wala, it started working about 3 months after i bought it. Untill then i had to put up with 50-60 degree fridge temps.

They know they have to fix it by the third try or the customer gets a whole new appliance,so i dont think they want to explain to their boss they could not fix it on 3 trys.

FYI, A & E is Sears in disguise. They cherry pick contract claims all of the time.

New refrigerators are very complex over their older counter parts. More electronics to break down.

Yes aren't modern appliance fun :)

Seems like everything in our house broke in the last month.

Old Sony DVD player dead so I get a new Panasonic BD player. Half the time I get no signal on TV. Had to swap to a "high speed" HDMI cable and its better but still fails on occasion. Might be going back

Same week our 7 year old Samsung LCD died - power supply crapped out. Samsung actually came to my house and fixed it free out of warranty. Turns out there was a class action lawsuit about bad quality filter capacitors blowing out.

Week after that our new over the range GE microwave started loosing its mind, going into pause mode. SInce the new GE range had also had an occasional problem with the oven spontaneously shutting off I called GE. They came out for a warranty call and over two appointments changed the computers and keypads in both units AND changed the microwaves magnetron for good measure to deal with a loud buzz (all on warranty).

Week later and the microwave did the pause thing again!

I wont even get into dehumidifiers... been through 3 of those in 4 years...

The GE services guys comment "Your old microwave from the 80s still worked, and you got a new one??? bad move"

I will say GE was great - show up when they promise and call ahead before arrival. Samsung was ok, not great. Frigidaire was a real pain to deal with last year on a warranty replacement of a broken dehumidifier - lots of paperwork, screwup with the local shop they wanted to handle a swap through, etc.

Nothing is built like it used to be... Im starting to change my mind about extended warranties.
