Wonder if any of you owners can help me. I will be getting a great deal on a floor model. They no longer sale Austro, so they don't know the answer to my questions. Here they are: 1. Can I use a surge protector with the Integra. 2. The removable oval like shelf, that you take off to clean the heat exchanger tubes has 2 large round, machined holes in it. Is this normal? Or is something missing? I was wondering if there is a mechanical reason for the holes. if so what are the reasons other than to remove the shelf and Can I make a ceramic tile to cover the shelf? The dealer said he would get anything that was missing, but how do I know??? I'm asking for a manual, a DVD and the missing piece, if it is missing. Do you folks know of anything else that you got with your stove? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks NW

I'm not all that familiar w/ the Intregra II (although I almost bought a new one this summer, but too $$ for me), but as for the surge protector, I just put a thread up tonight on that very subject.
Yes, you can run any electrical device like a pellet stove through one, andI highly recommend doing so....here's the one I bought...it's inexpensive, but provides good protection to the electronics in our stoves:

They cost a little more but I know they work I have seen an APC take a lightning strike and not let anything through. The surge protector was toast but the equipment was not harmed. Do you know if the hot, neutral an ground are protected?

Great info, on the surge protector. I like that it is direct into the wall. I'm still wondering about the holes in the lid/shelf. now I wonder if the ceramic coating is missing. I don't see the holes on any of the pictures of integras? well if anyone else has a stove like this, let me know.thanks!
I have a new integra - not sure about a surge protector - but why not - can't do any harm - will it help? maybe , maybe not. As far as the removable shelf - I think it is purely decorative - its color should match the color of the side panels - I would insist on getting the correct replacement piece. Make sure you get the rod that latches into the holes for cleaning the exchanger tubes - it will be the only way to easily get at them - it also comes with a potholder mitt so you do not burn yourself. My first season with this unit and pellets in general - however using it the past two evening I can generally say it seems great. One thing you should consider : is there another dealer close by who can service your unit? Don't forget - these are made in Austria - so if you do not have a dealer stocking parts that is in your area just in case you ever have trouble - you may want to keep this in mind.

1. I fully intend to use at least a surge suppressor, or possibly a small UPS if I can find a full sine wave one that is inexpensive.
2. the 2 machined holes in the top shelf are for pulling the cleaning rods for the heat exchange tubes. Using the hook/handles provided, you would hook the heat tube cleaning rods through the machined holes and pull them up and down. 3. here's what my stove came with:
stove. burn pot. gray color top shelf with holes. gray color side panels (2). instruction manual and documents. 3" aluminum couplingto connect to chimney (please not that this has a special angle for corner install). clamp for coupling. 14" long rod that I think is a burn pot scraper. hook to pull heat exchange tubes. stove mitt.

If I am picturing this right, you have 2 holes on top which should house the metal rods to clean the exchanger tubes, like jumpinin said. If you don't have the rods, then you can't clean the exchanger tubes, which would be a problem. So the holes are not decorative but a necessity!! After you make sure you get the rods then get the the tool that is used to clean them as well as the oven mitt.
I have used my Integra II for the past few nights and only at 10%, 2 story colonial with 7 rooms (4 bedrooms) and the downstairs has been at 75 while upstirs has been at 74...the bedrooms are closer to 71 all without ceiling fans going yet. So I am very happy with our "investment"
. I have a full tank of oil for the hot water and I would like to see Feb before I call for a delivery.Did you get the decor plate that goes on top of the stove just ahead of the pellet lid? The two steel pegs are for holding it in place. This plate goes around the two cleaning rods.eddyburns said:

NO, THE TWO RODS HAVE HOLES IN THE END AND ARE EXPOSED SO YOU CAN INSERT THE ROD TOOL THAT COMES WITH THE STOVE FOR PULLING THE RODS UP AND DOWN FOR CLEANING. THE DECOR PLATE IS DESIGNED TO GO AROUND THESE RODS.
I THINK AUSTROFLAMM COULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE MORE IMAGINATIVE AND MADE THIS AREA A LITTLE MORE ATTRACTIVE SINCE IT IS SUCH A VISIBLE AREA.
THEY COULD HAVE ALSO PICKED ANOTHER COLOR OTHER THEN GRAY FOR THE BASE OF THE STOVE.
AUSTROFLAMM SHOULD TAKE A LOOK AT THE 1996 LOPI FOX FIRE FOR SOME IDEAS.
