So the guy that I bought my house from set up his exhaust in a really awkward place for cleaning. I can clean the bottom of the pipe from below by taking the cap off and using a brush. But I can't really get to the top horizontal section. He put it right underneath the AC unit. So when I put a ladder up it's too far to reach. Does anybody have any good ideas about how to clean this horizontal pipe? Is the only way to clean from the inside by taking the pipe apart?

Can you twist off the top half portion of your vertical rise? I notice a break there. From there you can push it outside.

I see your difficulty. Too bad the installer didn't run the vent pipe straight out the back of the stove. My thought would be to use step ladders and some scaffolding plank to stand over the A/C unit. I'd run an eyebolt into the house framing to use as a safety to tie in a harness to prevent a fall.

Maybe? I'm kind of new to this. If I twist that pipe will there be enough give between the other sections to be able to get it out? Also, is there generally some kind of silicone or something between the pipes to keep it sealed?

Some pipes have the gasket built in... no silicone to re-apply.

Others will chime in to put gasket tape on the seals after :)

Next time you have pipe off take out that 90 and put in a t with a clean out cap.Not as pretty but very handy.
I like that idea Bob! No ladders make me happy! Do you think that it will swap out easily in terms if dimensions?

Most t's and 90's have close dimensions. You can go to the website of whatever pipe you have and see.I will be doing a t install on my 2nd stove just for convenience, very hany in middle of winter, but not as pretty.

I'm goin with the T. Awesome! Simple and less chance if bodily injury. Thanks!

In the end, the guy I hired to clean the pipe because I couldn't get to it showed me how to clean it myself. He suggested using a ladder stabilizer which gets me out far enough that I can go over the AC unit. Nice guy! He definitely did not have to tell me that. But I appreciate his honesty.
