As I start the years splitting it I could feel my lower back starting to feel strained.

Just a friendly reminder to take breaks, use proper form and splitting tricks. Split multiple rounds at a time with a tire or a bungie cord. Bend at the legs and rest when needed......or just buy a wood splitter.

Best of luck. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

Stretch, and I mean start stretching a week before splitting, get your body use to 5 min of stretching every morning, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, believe it or not, when your dehydrated your body starts to slow down and you start to make poor decisions, or take short cuts and not even realize it, these short cuts while working can contribute to an increase of strains, such as placement of your feet can cause poor footing which then can strain your back.

Using a tire or bungee cord is a huge back saver. Just think how many fewer times you have to bend over to puck splits off the ground.
I recently started using a pickaroon and it's also a huge help to avoid bending so much.
Think about it this way. If a cord of wood weighs 3000lbs, then you reduce your total lifting by 3000lbs if you lift each split one less time.

I recently purchased the LogOX. So far, helpful on the back.

Where on my hydraulic splitter do I mount the bungee cord and tire?
Well the tires usually are mounted on the back or aft side just behind the engine. Lol... you asked. I’m not so sure about the bungees but I did find this... I hope this helps..:)
