I need to get the make-up air supply installed for the Kuuma. I can feel drafts from the windows upstairs, and every little crack that's around! When it gets cold, the LP furnace kicks on in addition to the Kuuma (while there may or may not be a load of clothes in the dryer, and someone taking a shower/bathroom vent fan) as well. Our indoor humidity has also dropped through the floor, and I understand the make up air can address that issue as well.

I currently have a 6" wall vent purchased, and some 6" pipe. I'll be running the vent through the wall, and down to the floor next to the Kuuma (9.5', give or take). Then 90 back up 7 feet or so, and another 90 to cap it off/keep crap from falling in. It'll be kind of a U shape, or an upside down horse shoe.

I'd like to put something in that line, to 1) keep a draft reversal from happening, and 2) help to keep critters out. I'm looking at 6" backflow dampers to put in the system. In this case, it'll let air flow INTO the house, but not out. I'm looking at these three:

How will these work in a make-up air situation? There's a pretty good draw when opening a window (ie, air getting sucked in), but I'm not sure how that draw compares to a vent fan (which is normally used to open the damper). That concern is why I'm also considering the Tamarack-style damper (requires very little pressure to open/close).

Any input from those who have "been there, done that"?

Should not need a damper or want one. As for critters, use a dryer vent cap. It will look good on the outside and has screening for critters.
