My brother works for Riva Yamaha in Fl and this was his best friend (broken link removed to http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2001-11-20/news/0111190712_1_leon-resnick-watercraft-duck)

Way back in another life I was a Customs guy on the US/Canadian border between Glacier and Waterton Parks. I was closing the gate in the rain @ 10 PM when a very shaken fellow rode up on a Honda 750. He'd been cruising up the road at about 60 MPH when an elk jumped out in front of him. He ducked, the elk snapped the windshield off the fairing and flew above his head. Never went down. He was shaking for a couple hours.

Teribile accident. I knew a man who was broadsided by an 8 point buck. Fortunately, he lived to tell about it....and so did the buck.

Been there, done that...A deer ran into me outta nowhere on my Harley few years back...bike came out much better than me, however I wasn't very happy after I finally stopped tumbling down the highway. I was pretty fortunate to talk about it, but didn't spook me bad enough I guess. I was up, me and the bike a month later riding to the next rally:)

A friend that I used to work with bought tickets to one of those fund raisers to raffle off a new Harley...a full dresser. Asked the seller just how he gets possession of the bike, that is, do you deliver it or do I have to come down and get it? Yeah, right! Well, of all the thousands sold, he did win it! Just a couple miles from his house, he also had a collision with a bear. He fared a lot better than the above fellow though.
The closest I came to one of those "kamikaze" animals was with a deer...the mud from the hooves hit me in the face after it darted across the highway-full tilt! Then there was the partridge that flew across my path and the tail feathers hit the front forks. Just don't want to hit anything while on a bike...another buddy hit a robin that about knocked him off the bike.

the closet I have come is rounding a corner and a bull standing in the road staring me down. Had to stop and wait him out. I kept thinking "boy this is going to hurt". he finall y turned and walked to the side of the road and let me pass. this also was a night the wife and I decided to go on a midnight ride so it was very dark too.

Coupla years ago, I was leaving the house at Oh-Dark-Thirty to escort some WWII vets on a Patriot Flight & had a doe come out of the woods on my right side while I was on a twisty back road. She took a quick right when she saw me & ran alongside me for a short while. I coulda reached out & petted her head, she was so close. Scared the Bejaysus outta me, but other than my drawers, no damage...
