Has anyone installed a block off plate by drilling and screwing into their lintel?

I have a new liner coming today that I will be installing this weekend. I'm trying to decide how far down to run the blanket insulation on the liner. This is dependent on where my block off plate goes.

My top option is to have it screwed into the lintel and then screwed into the back of the firebox. If this doesn't work I can also do a Blockoff plate higher up towards the smoke chamber. This option would be much more difficult.

Pictures below because they are always worth 1000 words.

Looks like there's plenty of wiggle room. That should work fine as long as there is room for the top of the tee to stay below the b.o. plate.

You can also pack the upper smoke chamber with roxul after the liner is in.

Screw it right into the lintel, your set up looks like mine. I used magnets to hold it in place and stuffed roxul around the flue.

Screws into the lintel can be a pain i usually use rivets but yes i put my block off plates there many times as long as there is enough room to get it hooked up with the plate there which in your case is not an issue.

I like the magnet idea. I'm always in for something that can be taken apart if needed.

After receiving my new Tee, I'm not sure I will be able to run the Blockoff above it. Is it not ok to run the Blockoff around the Tee?

Wouldn't that require a two piece b.o. plate to clear the clamp? I like to have that top clamp on the tee exposed, but probably just a personal preference.
