Running a BK40. Have a shot at some bois d'arc wood. Ok to run in this stove in whole or mixed with other wood? Seems like the heat can be controlled by limiting the air so it doesn't overheat.
 
Burn it! Since we don’t know your specific setup (chimney height, etc) mix it in with other wood until you’re confident you can control it.
 
Bois d'arc (Osage-orange) is densest wood in US, but it doesn't flare up. It burns with low, steady flame almost like coal.
Depending on your stove and burning conditions mix with other woods to tailor to your specific needs.
More Osage for longer burns,
a large split for extended overnight burns,
Mix in the morning and typically good coals available to light off an evening burn on warmer days.
