So I now have an extra burn pot for my M55 so that when I do my weekly clean, I can just pop in my back-up burn pot and scrape the other sometime before the next clean...Then I got thinking...Is there a cleaning solution that it can soak in for up to a week and then do an easy quick scrape, thinking that the carbon build up will mostly fall off or dissolve ?
Thanks, Bill

water? the "universal solvent".

Water...really? Think I'll grab a beer! Thanks

Water + metal = corrosion. Unless the burnpot is made of surgical grade stainless steel.

i soak my pot in water and a squirt of dish soap for about an hour and all of the deposits fall right off!

Soap and water works OK, But for the really stuck stuff(weeks and weeks of burning chit pellets) I use a squirt of carb cleaner(outdoors only) to eat the carbon off so I don't need to beat the chit out of the burnpot liner!

I'm looking for a water soluble cleaner that's a bit more green.

You can take the burnpot out of a horamone?

Yeah, so the question naturally comes to mind - What's the difference between a burnpot and a hormone?

I appreciate all the replies but hormones???? Bulk pellets vs piggies, oink oink!

About 2 hours! Give er take a lil. :p

Ohh almost forgot, no bloody knuckles.

No - answer: You can't hear a burn pot.

Mods'll prolly delete this, I suppose... :)

sure can....4 bolts....and then have to remove the igniter (if applicable)......of course, the weekly cleaning of my Harman is roughly 20 seconds.....while it still burns......not enough time to even get the wrench. Monthly cleaning? Different story......an hour or so. Year end cleaning? 2 hours.......could it be the Hormone is easier to clean than the Enviro? Inquiring minds want to know.

Depends who ya ask. I don't weekly clean with good fuel. More like monthly and its about 20 minutes. Some do this weekly or by weekly. With crap pellets I still go more than 2 weeks, But add some extra time to soak/scrap or chisel the burn pot liner. Maybe another 10 minutes. No daily pot scrap or pull the chunks over the edge.

1 month into the run, I still see fire without glass cleaning. :p

Most of us basement dwellers dont see the fire even with a clean glass :p

Your non horamone owners dwell on the burnpot buildup - my cleanings are dictated by ash bin level when burning decent pellets. So a month without a shut down is normal once 24/7 burning kicks in :)

I have gone 52 bags without opening the door(and saw flames even). Still had room in the ash pan for more. But had a pellet guy begging for test results so I caved and cleaned. Pete's record will fall someday and I highly doubt a Harmon(thanks spell check) will be the one to break it! :p

its kinda like being the oldest person alive......most likely whatever "record" Pete set has been broken a multitude of times by various customers who tend to neglect their units.

"OMG! When was the last time you cleaned this thing?"
"...er.....cleaned....?"

It even comes with a burn pot scraper. :-)
The burnpot in the Harman does have a burn pot gasket but not to hard to cut a new one. I like to take the burnpot off when I repaint the inside after a few years of usage.

You don't know what it was? You're a newbie then.

Ask Eric at Kinsman stoves.....he's the one that owes me a lot of brewsky's because of it. :)
