We have just finished burning this year - Australia. I burn 24/7 from May to Sept and i always find it so much easier to collect firewood this time of the year. Most people don't bother collecting this time of year the leave it too late.

I managed to find an easy score on the way home from work so got 5 loads (Mon-Fri) mainly Pine. Then on Saturday a neighbour asked if i wanted a load of tulip. Managed to get another 4 loads from him. Its all bucked just needs splitting. managed a bit with the fiskars then did a bit more with the hydraulics.

All up i think i managed ~ 10 Cubic Metres (2.5 - 3 cords)

The gap between the covered rows and the uncovered rows is the amount of wood i have used this season.

I am hoping i will have 2 years in the uncovered rows - there are ~20 rows x 6 pallets x 5 feet by the time i finish. Some of the rows are over 6 feet tall.

I have another year [Hearth.com] Busy weekend (Pics)worth covered

and i have a 'overstock' area which is 11 pallets long with 3 rows per pallet. This has grown a little and has about 6 pallets doubled up.

Its all a bit messy at the moment but once the warmer weather gets here i will have a big tidy up.

Nice. I just started gathering for the three year plan. Ive got this winter covered and 2016/2017 covered. But nothing thatll be dry for 2015/2016. Im hoping to cut enough dead standing that will dry in time.

Best way to get ahead is to concentrate on the quick seasoning wood first. Once you have that then go for the oaks etc... I learnt the hard way that most solid hardwoods take longer than a year.

It's the same way around here... Nobody is thinking about gathering firewood until the fall. But you can spend the whole summer scrounging the trees that blew over in the spring, without competition.

Thats tough. Unless i find a standing dead pine to get, all else is oak. One person gave me 4 big pin oaks that blew over. Ive got 1 css. And 2 others told me i could cut all the oaks i want. People around here are attached to the pines.
