Hard to tell with all the moss on the bark, but the grain looks like maple.
 
I will go with maple. no expert- just enjoying the hunt.

I also say maple but hard to tell
with all that liken on the bark
although liken likes to grow on maple
 
I also think Maple. I am not sure if I can tell Sugar Maple from Red Maple with these pics.
 
I'd say probably maple...slim chance for cherry but I have never seen moss grow on cherry like that...ivy on the other hand, different story.
 
That brown/white split is yelling maple to me.
 
This is red maple - definitely going with that for my guess. Looks just like what you have, imo.
