Can anyone give me some advice on our Kozy Olivia Corn/Pellet Stove?

We've had our stove for about 5 days. The 1st day the stove lit up fine but after 2 hours of burning the pot was backed up and nearly burning out of the auger. On day two, the auger wouldn't feed pellets. I took all the pellets out and checked the auger as best I could. On day three we couldn't get it started. It was windy, but the stove would just smoke and smoke. Smoke would be escaping the pipes and rear (not just a little either). On day four, it started and the auger dropped pellets, but just after the room fan kicked in (the good part) it would trip the breaker for the room and all the lights and stove would go off. It DIDN'T do this the three days before.

Thoughts? I've called the seller/installer and he's "getting back to me."

First I have to say
I love KozyHeat the Hussong company.
I push there gas fireplaces and z42 wood fireplace every day.
BUT
the Olivia is a Stove that Jim the owner Whiped up and is his baby.
this is the first pellet stove they have made.
this stove is new and only a few have been sold.

My rep dropped on off at my store this summer and I played with it a little
I was not impressed with the Looks of the stove or how it operated.


Sound like a lot of problems with the stove
if the pipe was installed correctly with Pellet/Corn vent
NO SMOKE WILL COME OUT.
DO you have vertical pipe or just out the wall?

also sounds like an air adjustment problem also.
Make sure the all the doors are shut. Door, Hopper lid and ash pan if any.

make sure the burn pot is installed correctly.

I say call your Dealer/installer have them come over and go over the stove find the problem and explain ALL the cleaning and operation to you.
I have been doing this for 18 years and specialize in pellet stoves and that stove cornfused me.

It could also bee a wiring problem

the control board is a good one for it is the same company (ACE) that makes the control board for Enviro and Breckwell.

We have a wall pipe. No vertical piping at all. I did have a guy come out to check it over and start it up with me. It was his first time ever starting a pellet stove (has has wood stoves). Wha!

It's interesting in that the seller said the same things that you did about the company (they've only sold a few) AFTER we purchased the stove.

I'm really nervous about this beast. The seller wants to just install a new stove...but whose to say the whole product isn't a lemon?

I DO NOT RECOMMEND a direct vent install.
I will NEVER ALLOW a stove we sell to be installed that way. I don’t care if we lose a sale.

Unless there is a Structural problem with the stove you don’t need to Replace the whole thing. It is just easier for the dealer to replace it.

If the Tech knows how to work on pellet stoves he can just replace the Component that is faulty or make the adjustments need.

I did see a lot of things that could go wrong with the stove for user errors.

The burn pot was hard to get into the correct position.
The dumb switch on the controls to go from corn and pellet could be switch wrong.
Air adjustment was critical.

If I can take a photo of the venting I'll try to attach it tonight. I sure would like some feedback. It basically makes a little "s" and out the side of the house. It was installed facing west so on windy days I don't know how the smoke is going to blow out that well.

I can't tell how to adjust the air take at all...The manual to start the dang thing has over 15 steps. And when it comes to diagnostics it's all a guessing game. The installer had never started a pellet stove before...

For most pellet stoves, aren't they just a press go machine? ...Well, I know there's more to that...
