I am almost positive it is a zero clearance unit. And no an insert will not workif i wanted to lower the mantle hight , what would be my options. would a insert or zero clearance work? the large brick work also seems a bit large for the room and a bit dated as well.
I agree, the scale does look off. But if it's zero clearance, does that mean its only a brick facade?I am almost positive it is a zero clearance unit. And no an insert will not work
That's not the best combo. The heat from the flush fireplace is not going to be electronics friendly. Maybe consider putting up a non-combustible mantel to act as a heat shield? Thanks everyone for the info. Wife would love to eliminate the mantle so a flat tv would mount above.

I've had my 42" bravia over my flush insert for 2 years now with no issues. It does have a full motion mount though, extends at least 18" away from chimney. That's not the best combo. i agree even though I don't have a tv above my stove I check temperature of bricks with my ir thermometer and they are never too hot. I don't think that the cast iron surround trim piece ever got higher than 180fI've had my 42" bravia over my flush insert for 2 years now with no issues.
