My new wood boiler is within inches from my foundation wall in the basement.

Is it a good or bad idea to pipe the relief through the block wall to the outside of the house? It would be really simple to do.

If it is outside, how will you know if it is relieving itself regularly or not? Seems you would want to know that - I'd also be concerned about ice or some other obstruction blocking the flow and not being able to do its job when it needs to.

Personally, I wouldn't do it, but I'll let the pros chime in.
