Might void the warranty and the UL rating to boot.

Older hearth stove with the 6 inch flex flue running through the original chimney, builds a lot of creosote, thought wrapping it would keep the heat up and cut down on the creosote

It would be more effective and proba bly cheaper to just order an insulation kit for the liner. Also using unapproved insulation will void warantees ul listings and is against code.

Out of curiosity, aside from the fact that this insulation is not a tested configuration what would make it unsafe assuming the insulation itself is not needed to protect the rest of the house? Do auto headers get to the same temps as a chimney fire?
Nothing unsafe about it at all just not approved for tgat application and likely not enough insulation value to make much difference.

It would be completely untested, therefore I'd think it's value for code would be nil. Might also be quite pricey to do aa 25' liner in this material.
