Castile quad

Just installed my quad to heat my 1244 sqft ranch. It dosnt seem to be to efficient. I ran a quad classic bay in my old 2200 split level and man could that heat.
I am worried that the Castile wont heat my 1200 sqlft house. Thoughts?
its about 57 degrees out sided
stove has been running for 2 hours on high. The room its in is about 77 degrees and the bedrooms down the hall are at 67 degrees

I think the CB1200 is the best stove Quad makes. I have read a lot of posts on Santa Fe and Castile trying to get more heat out, springs in the heat exchanger etc. I would dump it.

RIght now i am just using a pedistal fan blowing down the hallway.

I have a Castile but I don't think it moves alot of heated air (CFM). I only use it on one end of the house ,on a thermostat, for when the real cold stuff hits.

With good softwood pellets mine does a nice job of heating my partially insulated basement and helps with heat pump run time in the dead of winter. I would think with an open floor plan and the use of a fan for air circulation on low to medium blowing the cooler air toward the stove it should do fine.

I don't heat the whole house with it. I have an old 1850's farm house that has an "L" shaped floor plan. I have a pellet stove at either end of the L and I have a hot air furnace that heats the area at the point of the angle in very cold weather. There are separate themostats for each unit, giving me a 3 zone heating floor plan. I don't think there is a free standing stove that would do the job for my situation.

I have a aprx 2000 sq ft split level, and I heat my upstairs with my castile insert. I do use a fan at far end of house blowing towards the stove at other end of house.

My house is approx 1600 sqft built in 1992, R20/R60.....used $300 oil last year and 4 tons of pellets......heat almost exclusively with the Castile most of the time on medium...no issues keeping downstairs at 73 - 74 and upstairs 70 - 72.......sort of a bi-level with a wide open L shaped stairwell ....stove is in the lower level family room....love it Being able to distribute the heat is KEY.....my house is perfect for this stove.

I heat my whole house. when it gets real cold then I burn a little oil to heat the rest of the house. what I have found is it's better to use a good pellet because I'm getting the most out the stove.

It's been a work horse for me and I plan on buying a bigger stove soon M55 cast

I heated my 1500sqft 1960 ranch pretty much exclusively w the castile last year on medium

The 1200 was a higher output stove than your Castile so you aren't comparing the same stove. On 20 degree days, I can heat my 1800 sq ft 2 story with my Sante Fe full bore and the Castile running on and off in a pretty well isolated family room. House is 45 years old.
Don't be afraid to run the stove on High. It will do it all day long with no problems. Some manufacturers say not to but then why have a HIGH setting?
