In The Woods
We bought this in Tupper Lake over the summer at the Woodsmen's Days, 35 dollars because of the small crack in the base of the tree.

Very nice zap, you probably can't even see the crack...good deal

At Equine Affair they usually have a guy doing chain saw carving. Bears, eagles, horses ... it's pretty cool.

Looks great Zap!

Zap, lots of our trees have cracks and they seem to stay upright. It looks nice.

Nice carving Zap! I bought a little bear which sits on a bench at my front steps at a local cranberry harvest festival for $30.00 and got to watch him create it.. Love that goofy little bear!

Thanx Zap! I like the tree and would like one to hang inside unlike the bear that lives outside.. Did you paint the tree or did you buy it like that? Folk-art and art in general is interesting to see being made..

It came like that, I thought 35 dollars was low even with a hairline crack in the base of the tree.

Yes I agree $35 is a good deal and forgot that's what the bear cost me (not $30).. I thought it worth it especially when I got to see it created .. I have lots of pics I didn't post showing the whole process.. Every time I see the bear I remember that day at the cranberry festival with the wife, grandbaby and other kids... Oh yeah there was a children's book author there and I bought an autographed book for the baby.. Very cool and a great day about a year ago!

Ray, are ya taking orders????

I think we should have a Hearth Forum contest for carvings, BK had a post a while back about it and I think it would be fun.

Nice bit of carving there Ray :)
