I just got a load of cherry rounds, the cut sides are very white and it is super easy to split. I will get pics tomorrow. Can anyone add some insight as to the type of cherry this may be?

It's definitely not black cherry, I was thinking white but I have not seen it as of yet, unless this is what it is....

I'm at work right now but my friend said it was light, it is whitish when split open and has a thin brown line running down the center in a lout a 6 inch diameter branch....

Thanks Dix, I got about a cords worth cut in 18" length rounds, delivered and stacked in my driveway last nite, gonna split it and split it with a friend.....

It seasons rather quickly, usually.

6 - 8 months is my experience.

I keep it around for medicinal purposes only

I am thinking cherry with white wood isn't cherry at all. As I recall all the wild cherries besides Black Cherry have similar wood, and the wood is a similar color to black cherry. Some for the non-native edible cherry. Black Cherry stands out among cherries in the quality of the wood, but the color is similar among all cherries, I think.

Hey Ram I had two cords of cherry to split up two weeks ago. The large 16 inch rounds were reddish and great smell.
The branches were white with the stripe you spoke of. Check you larger rounds when you can. I've never seen large cherry rounds that were white. Could be though Give us some pics.

Ok all, I'm going to reverse course here, I just got home and split and took a pic ....
Looks like maple to me.....
Now is it silver maple.....or......sugar maple.....

I think your right, I was pulling white cherry out of my hat when I said it because I was told it was cherry, and it was very white, I've have cherry and black cherry but was concerned when I saw the white sides......

Only asking because Pin Cherry is very light. That stuff above doesn't look like cherry....

No, it's got to be maple, wood splits inside look very similar to a Norway maple I had cut down but the bark is different.

My favorite! Silver maple. Splits easy. Seasons fast. BTU's are still ok.

Thanks for all the confirmation, the straight stuff splits like butter, the crotches will go to the splitter, it is very wet to the touch, 33% on the MM......

Very nice! I brought one home last weekend that I had felled for some friends. Split a bunch of it this weekend and it's super easy to split. Does yours have a bit of a funky odor to it?
