is there much difference between having a chimney pro be certified through the csia or being certified by Certified Chimney Professionals?

Both have very qualified Chimney Sweeps, like any profession you will find good ones and not so good ones. I hear about CSIA sweeps more so than CCP's but that might be a location thing. There is a lot of training and Codes that have to learned, and how to locate then in the NFPA 211, and IRC books. I'm not sure people understand all that, and then complain when they need something done and they think that it's to expensive.

Well the biggest difference is that the cpp certified sweep dodnt feel like paying to maintain a csia certification. It costs roughly 9 times as much. Cpp is a pretty new thing started by a guy near us. And there are very mixed feelings about what he is doing in the industry.

But when it comes down to it all that the certifications mean is that you are reasonably good at taking tests. And you are willing to pay the fees.
