Cleaning stove pipe today

How often I guess is more of a "use" question, but for the last 3 years for me I try to run the brush down the pipe this week since I have this week off. Seems to work out starting in mid October that it needs cleaned by now. Last year I had the flakes falling down the pipe sound before now. Maybe I'm better prepared, burning better quality wood this year - thanks to all here . Heard the first flakes this past weekend, and I've been keeping my eye on the cap, no black "Icicles". So since it's going to be around 50 degrees today and rain and cold on the horizon today I'll be on the roof with the ol' brush. How about y'all? How often do you clean the chimney/pipe? Mines single wall, about 12' with 2-22 degree bends

35 year and haven't fallen off the roof yet!

I try to do mine during the holidays also, probably get it Monday or Tuesday.Hopefully I'll have very little builld up compared to my last stove, and can go to once yearly

After I got done that i drug this out of the woods and cut/ stacked it. I cut the top of it where it fell and I figured I could drag it out with several chains and a cable to the landing. Got me a little 590 time today, I am pleased with this saw the few times I've run it now. I thought about getting the MS460 out, but want to get the 590 broken in

I cleaned mine about 1 month ago for the first time in just about 2 years and got just about a cup of powder. The screen on top had a little soot on it and when I took cap off most blew in my face.

I clean both of our chimneys at the end of the burning season. If the stove pipes start crackling during start-ups, I'll clean them before the end of the burning season. Last year, I was able to burn dryer wood which resulted in very little clean out in the chimney with masonry blocks and much less in the stainless chimney.
