My parents, who live next to me, have a Bellaire Stove Company Pot Belly Stove that is many many years old. My dad and I bought it at an auction and we installed it in his garage and dropped some 8 inch steel culvert as a chimney (which probably makes some of you cringe!). There are many outbuildings and garages with this type of set up here in this part of the country.
There are those who might not like the aesthetics of coal. However, if it is available to someone, then it is quite an empowering feeling to not be as dependent "on the grid" which offers some a piece of mind.
