That's why I always have that  look on my face when the TV weatherman says wind chill only affects the skin.

Hey neighbor, fancy meeting you here! I had -4 last night, but 72 in my kitchen when I came down stairs. youve got at least a hundred feet in elavation on me though. hows the Gaser running for ya?

Hi dman-110,
This winter so far sure has tested many heating systems, I've learned my boiler easily surpasses the fin tube crap in my house during a near design day. But you see by the picture what I'm dealing with! Another 6 weeks and the excitement will be over, nice wood pile. I wonder per capita how many boilers are in warren.

Bad here in NEPA as well.
Friday morning hit -6 ambient and -21w.c.

Predicting -13 and w.c up to -34....ad 38mph gusts, from Sunday to Monday...and another 8: of snow...running out of places to move and pile the stuff...

Do the winters seem to be colder and shifting later towards spring?..We have been experiencing heavier winters later during in the year..

Thus far the heating system seems to be fairing nicely, house varies from 67-69, with 68 avg setpoints. Only one very long and furthest zone seems to lag a bit, when the temps dip below 4. Keeping the basement slab turned off though...maybe be a mistake..in hindsight

Froling is digesting two large meals daily...each about 5.5 cubic ft, burning an avg of 6 hrs a day total.

Good luck to all and stay safe, warm and healthy.

Scott

I know of 12 off the top of my head, I swapped out the central and got a Portage, I cant say good enough things about it, just wish I did it sooner. I was clean outta wood last year at this time, had to buy it. Kind of defeated the purpose of having it. Ive got 10 cord covered now, so I think its safe to say ill be good.

Just walked in from a no heat service call at 12:40AM Sunday morning and it's -8* with a nice mild gale force wind behind it. I don't even want to know what the wind chill is ut even with a Carhartt overall on it feels like I'm buck naked when I walk outside.
 Scheisse! It is COLD:eek:
First time I have ever seen the Windhager hovering near a steady 90-100% output in the 3 winters I have run it.

Hi Tom - Just down the hill from you it was -10 F on Sat. morning - It's a dry cold though.............................;lol

Yeah that north wind overnight was a killer in the bedroom. The double pain window on the north wall was cascading cold to the floor, and that is with zero air leaks. Radiating cold?

This is by far the warmest indoor winter I have experienced in over 50 years. Second winter with the boiler and haven't purchased propane since September of 2013. Wood Is Good...................

-23F right now in central U.P. Coldest so far this winter.

Pat

Finally just got inside from being out on a no lights call at 3am, its down right dangerous out there, cold, wind, blowing snow, can wait to finish out my 16hour shift today and snuggle up to my princess

Hi mike, his it going for the second winter, your wood pile holding up?
My woodpiles good Tom, I had 29 cord for sale, it was gone by Thanksgiving - People still calling, could have sold another 15 the last week or so. Many years I have sap boiling by now, this year I haven't even shoveled out the barn. If I see that groundhog, well, it won't be pretty......

The cold is what it is, the snow kinda gets old, but the combination of the two, day after day really takes a toll. Its so much harder doing anything! Ill be happy when spring arrives
