My cleaning rods slides, (3 plates that slide up the tubes are loose & Bind on tubes) the rods are tight I cant use them only when a pull the chamber walls down and run them by hand. anything I can do?
Having owned an Integra for a dozen years or so... First thing to do is take it completely apart (completely pull out the ceramic plates) and clean *everything* around the tubes. Make SURE to pay special attention to clean the area behind the tubes, it's easy to miss if you're in a hurry. Get a brush in and around those tubes and clean them completely while you have everything open and exposed. I used to use a bottle-brush that I bent a hook into to do this job.
Also don't forget to clean the intake area, as it often fills with soot.
Thanks for the info, I do all that. the problem is that I cant pull up the convection tube cleaners during stove operation because the plates are all loose on the pull rods and bind on the tubes, I have to take the stove apart and hold them as I pull the rods up and down. I use a brush to get behind them also.
Ah, now I get it. The weld that holds the scraper in place on the rod has failed. With my old stove, the metal simply had fatigued from all the stress and heat, and it just tore out.
Ya, I was hoping I could pull the top of the stove apart and remove them and weld them again then put back together, no such luck....Lol I might try to secure them to were they slide good and try to use a small wire feed and weld them. not sure tho I pull the stove down and clean in there every other day any way so it probably does not matter if they pull or not, just thought it would be nice to have them working, so I don't have to pull the stove down so often.
Could you take a rod threaded on the end, push it through the hole in the scraper, and secure it on each side with a nut? In effect, replacing the loose rod, and holding it to the scraper with nuts. It's been done before.
Ya my stove has the same problem. The only complaint I have about the stove. In the spring I'm going to figure out how to fix it. Ill keep you informed.
Thanks Heat Seeker, If the bottom section of rod will come out I think I could do something like that....sounds good Flammam....I will be looking for a fix too...keep in touch.
I have had a similar experience with my stove also. The bottom comb (that's what I call em, not sure what the acutal term is) on the right side separated from the rod. I was thinking I could just weld it when warm weather comes back. Now I guess I'll have to dig a little deeper.
After looking it over real close today when I was cleaning my stove. this can be fixed with 2 sticks of all thread and 12 nuts as long as the bottom rod comes out OK, the bottom rod might be a problem, it moves free enough so I think it can be done.
