Cooking inside a wood insert?

I'm guessing this is a silly question, but an important one in my insert buying process...

In my fireplace I was able to cook using a dutch oven and a fireplace crane.

Is there any such possibility with a wood insert?

Many a thread on here of us cooking inside our inserts. Matter fact I could go for some baked potatoes.
