I am going to run an insulated flex liner in my chimney and am not quite sure what to do with this tee snout through the old clay thimble. The snout is 6" and the clay thimble is 8".

1. Should I wrap the snout with insulation, or should it just pass through the way it is? Does the gap between the snout and clay need to be filled, or sealed where it exits the wall? The instructions make it seem as if it is to just pass through, nowhere does it say anything about sealing or insulating it.

2. I want to use double wall stove pipe. How do I make the connection between the snout and the double wall? Is this the best option:
https://www.rockfordchimneysupply.com/products/blk-dbl-wall-masonry-sizes?variant=45671763575064 ?
I called Rockford and they said it slip fits inside of the snout and needs to be sealed with stove cement, but I don't see anything detailing this anywhere, and the guy on the phone seemed like he had better things to do than talk to me so I didn't get to into it with him. Is there a better option for making the double wall transistion or is this the best thing?

Thanks for your time.

Are there any combustible materials burried behind that brick?
