Yeah I covered mine again the other day before it started pouring. Not sure if I will remove the covers again this year. Now I need some snow to hold them in place! Yesterday first burn of the year! Highs of 46f/8c and lows of 39f/4c.

If no more rain falls than has fallen so far today, no worries. However, I still don't plan on covering until November or December. I really do not see the need for it earlier. Unless your wood is punky, it won't soak up much rain if any. The rain will just run off and what is left will evaporate very quickly.

I tend to agree with you. I have submerged chunks of wood in water overnight to use with the meat smoker. Just the outer edges are wet. Probably not good for starting fires, but if I brought wet splits into the dry garage, split them again a few times, got a fire going, rained on seasoned wood would not be a problem, the rain would quickly evaporate in the burner.

I don't want to run this train down the cover/uncovered tracks since that is well covered ground, but I leave the pile uncovered until Oct, then I put two cords in the racks on a covered cement patio, and one more cord in the breezeway between the shed and the bird coop, and lastly cover a cord or two with a tarp just in case. The last 3-4 years we averaged 100 plus days of no rain and 100 plus degree temps in the summer, but this year I think we only got to 100 a couple of days. On top of that we had several good mid summer rain storms, so I am feeling anxious about getting some wood undercover.

Really n truly ,It's Probably not really going to make any difference, one way or the other, whether I top cover it now or in a month, month n a half , but then again I have seen 1-2 day long rains in Sep ,Oct , and what I covered is what I'll be burning
