Like the title says: Crack or Scratch?

That looks like a crack. Clean and then check on the inside of that area to see if it goes all the way through.
 
The leaking of water to make rust tells us it's a crack. Looks like an old stove.
 
It appears to be a crack. Does this appear on the other side? You should clean it up and check again. What does this surface belong?

It’s a shame to see a Jotul 121 with a crack. I’m assuming it’s missing the burn plates that hang inside to help prevent this?
