i called my local dealer out to clean both my pellet stove venting sytems on the Accentra Insert and P-43 for the end of the season. While cleaning the pipe to the P-43 (they did not disconnect the pipe from the stove but removed the cap at the bottom of the pipe for access), one of the service tech's leans over the stove and the rear of the stove actually moves about six to eight inches.

The tech readjusts the stove but I'm concerned that perhaps the tape or silicone seals have broken which may result in a smoke smell when burning next season. I asked him about this and he said not to worry that there is a rubber heat gasket in the pipe. I think this somewhat b.s

Should I be concerned?

Bonehead move by them. What brand pipe you running?

Gonna be cold tonight. Fire it up and see what happens.
Also find another service tech.

I once had a tech. leave a screwdriver in the firebox. It was left in such a way I could not see it, so I fired the stove up and after about 30 minutes noticed black smoke in the firebox. Shut the stove down, let it cool, and found a melted screwdriver handle and 'tempered' blade. I took the screwdriver to the stove shop and asked them if the tech. would like his screwdriver back... The apologized profusely and refunded the cost of the service...last time I ever will use that shop.

Why not use them again? They apologized and refunded the cost of the service. Simple mistake with no damage except to the screwdriver. At least they made good on the mistake. What more could they do? Mistakes do happen. It is the dealers who don't care and do nothing that I dislike.

I'd have to agree I think I would want to use them again. They seem like they would do the right thing.

I agree with Tony. Stuff Happens. It's the dealers who don't try to make things right that you should worry about.

I'd be REAL concerned if the stove moved 6 - 8 inches if I leaned over it ................................

X2

Also. If You're using Duravent Pellet Pro pipe, it is possible the pieces that moved could be an extension slipped over a normal pipe. They are o-ringed.
