Designing a wood stove room..what would you do?

Hello all, I am in the process of floor plan design for a new house build. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on wood stove location/design if given the position I am in. The floor plan I am interested in is in the link. I can customize and change all I want...at a cost of course.

The plan has a nook and a dining area. We plan to put our dining table in the nook, then use the dinning room as a wood stove/sitting room. I am considering adding a few feet to the west wall to serve as a backdrop to the stove in case we want it there.

An open floorplan with the stove in the middle is an ideal setup for heating with a woodstove.

I would put it in the living room against that wall for peak efficiency. You could also put it in the dining room way back there. It would work okay with a decent ceiling fan. Either way you're going to need a ceiling fan to circulate the heat back down.

The stove is much more than heat. It should be the focal point in the room, viewed from the space you will be living in the most. I see it in the corner of the great room. The end that backs up to the master bedroom. With the open floor plan, heat is not much different where the stove is in the room. And the vaulted ceiling helps spreading out the heat.

In the great room opposite of the kitchen along the bedroom wall.. i would put in more twards the center of the house and you'll be warm

Maybe reverse the apex of the corner of that top left corner of the dining room and put a hearth there.

Be sure not to get a jetted tub, you'll never use it. I'd take a bigger shower where that tub is any day of the year. And I personally don't understand the walk in closet through the bathroom trend that's starting to happen now.

Toward the end:
Build the fire in a common space - Adjust the location until it knits together the social spaces and rooms around it, giving them each a glimpse of the fire - and make a window or some other focus to sustain the place during the times when the fire is out.

Keep it out of pathways
Allow multiple duties done during the day to be within sight.
Create or set it with a focal point behind - a window possibly.
A country kitchen comes to mind - an area that families used to congregate throughout the day. A little different than what you have, but something to think about.

Thank you all for the replies, there are some good ideas coming in!

Another idea we had was to use the dining as is and put the stove next to the kitchen in the nook against the east wall. I envision a couple rocking chairs next to the stove in the nook such that people can sit next to the fire and talk to someone else either in the kitchen or island. I most likely will keep a weeks worth of wood on the back porch so it would be easy to bring in wood to that spot.

Keep close to the center, both for heat distribution, and less chimney sticking out of the roof.

I agree on the tub. We had one at our last house, I never used it. I probably couldn’t fit in it either. We thought about putting a vanity in that spot and seperate the sinks but don’t really want to ditch the window. The walk in closet might be ok. I know my wife and I often have staggered schedules where one of us has to leave the house before the other even gets out of bed. With the WIC in the bath we can shower and dress without excessive walking through the bedroom and waking up the other person.

My first thought was a corner install of the great room of the porch wall. Second would be somewhere caddy corner to that. There are compromises with a corner versus centering in master wall but I’d put tv in that wall and stove in the corner.

PS my stove I under tv and now I watch less TV even now when stove isn't burning.
