Our gasification boiler and heat storage system has been in operation for about thirty years. For twenty of those years, so that I could be closer to my work, we moved away and rented the house out. Looking back now, it is interesting to see how that system functioned with the different operators. At the beginning of each tenancy, each were given an equal start in that they had a two year supply of dry wood in the wood shed. Three of the couples had a white collar background and had never burned or heated with wood in their lives. In these three families, the stay-at-home mom was chief operator!
These three read the operator's manual and had complete success running the system and even mastered the required routine cleanings. One couple that had previous experience with a conventional wood stove were a disaster. The short conclusion to this story is that the ones that read the operator's manual had success.
