I bought a Cozy Heat 231 ZC about a year and have enjoyed it. My problem is the door gasket is completely shot after about 40 uses. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a better aftermarket option?
Thanks,

thanks for the tip!Take some hi temp. silicone put a good amount all around the door where the door meets the boiler, then put a
thin strip of waxed paper on the goo and close door for several hours or until the goo dries. This will make a nice seal and excess paper can be removed repeat as required.
the fabric has disintegrated along the vertical seam between the doors. What do you mean by completely shot?

Yep,just pull it off it will come off much like removing a gasket and you can take a wire brush to get any small stubbing pieces and clean things up. I have the same gasket for four years now justI had in mind to use this technique to give a better seal with my pellet smokers. The question I have is if the time comes that I want to redo this, will it be easy enough to remove the old silicone from the metal it adheres to?
The stuff I used was from Home Depot the Hi temp red in color never had any issues with it stayed softI had blue Permatex RTV turn to a rock hard cement in the gasket channel and will never use it again for a gasket. Now I use Meeco's without issue.
