Do you get a stronger draft and wood burn quicker the colder it is outside?

Yes and yes.

Yep. Bigger the difference in temperature inside vs. Outside, the stronger it pulls.

So, ironically, the colder it is, the quicker the fire burns out. <>

Yes to both answers.

Pretty soon we will be getting into the dreaded "shoulder season" where the draft gets lousier and those with marginal chimneys have issues with smoke spillage and backpuffing.

Cold air is usually drier air and the shoulder season is often damper air. I think that has a lot to do with pressure since damp air is heavier (ie fog at ground level)

OK, so I'm stoopid.;em;em I thought a fog was more dense but it's my brain that is in a fog and more dense.

My wife says I am in a fog half the time too. ;lol Fog usually happens where the air is colder and moisture condenses into a cloud at ground level.

Are you all suggesting putting a refrigerator in the chimney?

Can somebody please tell me how do I get the air conditioner in the chimney?
