Drolet Eco 65 igniter done?

It appears my stoves igniter has ignited its last pellet. Any idea wear to buy a new one or trouble shoot? I've got a couple online stores that offer them I am just looking for suggestions.This is the 3rd burning season. I assume that's the lifespan???? My stove does not run 24 seven so I do use the igniter about every other day depending on the weather. Thanks.

Have not removed and tested. Just using the torch to ignite. Stoves been running for long periods of time so havent really missed it. actually dont mind the torch because it starts stove instantly. And dont loose a single pellet during ignition.

Had our stove since October of 2013. 3rd ignitor. Have to call SBI yet again today, they sent a new board and another ignitor last time we called. New board didn't seem to help. I get average 1.5 ignitions per ignitor. Don't mind using the torch either. Stove runs constantly except for cleanings.

Have them send you an air pump , sounds like its not putting out enough air and the ignitor is burning up as a result. Have you tested the air pump at all?

SBI figured the pump was running constantly. They indicated that's the reason they sent a new board. I'll try the last new ignitor then will put up a stink to send a tech out or bring me a new stove if there are still issues.

My Eco 65 looks like the igniter is bad because I do not see any sparks like normal on startup. However even when the unit is off (still plugged in) the unit hums almost like an electrical short. Thoughts?

Also forgot to ask. Can I really just use a torch to start it? It is below zero and I need heat.

Most stoves can be manually lit. Make a pile of pellets and with the stove running so as to not fill the room with smoke, shove the lit torch into the pile and when you get a burning ball of pellets about the size of a walnut, close the door and the stoves fans should ignite the pile just like your igniter if it was working. Takes under a minute for the whole process.

SBI sent me #44145 400w manual calls for a #44133 500w SBI says #44145 is the new replacement.If out of warrenty It cost$158.80 from Myfireplace.com
They said it was ok to use propane tourch to light pellets. I got mine under warrenty ordered on Monday morning and received it on Wednesday afternoon, Excellent service,also sent me an E mail on how to install it.

Not a bad deal if you want to stock up on some spare parts and gaskets at the same time. They are now all shipping with 400W igniter, as mine came with a 400w unit and its about a year old.

I talked with support and they are sending me a new igniter. The humming was the pump.
Good chat with support and they were very helpful.
Also learning how to clean it better and more thoroughly each time. I really like this forum and my ECO-65. Great stove!

The forum can be very helpful at times. Its very important to keep it clean and keep an eye out on exh temps. I have several posts that show the internals of the stove if your interested, and you will know when the stove is dirty internally as the exhaust motor will start to vibrate...

You have probably checked but is the white felt washer in place on the burn pot,it wears out or can be lost when cleaning the burn pot.

I don't recall seeing any washer, maybe that is on the eco-45?

Yes, any pictures of the inside would be nice as I am learning as I take more and more apart.
I am very thankful of the stove this year as our temps have been very below normal. I think 60+ days below 0 (F).
I bought 7 ton pellets and have used about 3 so far. There was a shortage here for a bit and propane went up to over $5 a gallon. So far used about 35% of a 500 gallon tank.

I have a T stat but have gone to manual because of the bad the igniter. I built a 32 x 48 lower level on a slab (10 ft walls) and have a second level for living quarters. This ECO-65 is the only heat except for a few small space heaters. Bought the duct kit but have not installed it yet (wish I had) But the stove is on 3-4 mostly and once it gets above zero I drop to level 2.

You are correct I have the 45 and assumed the 65 was the same,anyway the few times mine wouldn't light was for the washer problem or the pot wasn't quite in right even though it looked like it was.Good luck.

I was at the hardware store yesterday and they had a Eco 65 on display so I checked it out (nice stove), the burn pot is a totally different setup (in case anyone is wondering down the road).
I talked to my buddy that works their and he said I could have it for 2 grand (which I thought was a pretty good deal) but I don't need it, I'm very happy with my 45 (but then again, as we all know, bigger is better ).
