Hi All, I've been struggling with connecting DVL connector (part# 8674) to class A chimney, The double wall pipe side of the connector fits nicely into the double wall pipe. But it would only slide over a chimney section inner liner, not inside it how I thought it should work, engaging connector notches sticking outward. Then I read somewhere that DuraTech finishing collar is necessary for the connector to hook up to. I bought finishing collar, and yesterday tried to squeeze the connector into the finishing collar. It didn't fit, so I tried to crimp the connector, it would fit in but wouldn't sit there securely. I pretty much destroyed the connector with crimping, and have ordered a replacement. But I still have no clue how to properly get the connection between the connector and chimney finishing collar. Could someone help ? Thanks.

Finishing collar is on p. 22 on top - right

It goes in the support just like you described. It is a dripless connector so it goes too the outside of the inner liner.Give it a littl twist to lock it in place. Good luck.

I had/have the same problem. It's definately the weak link in my system.
I reach inside the pipe with both hands and push toward the class A and then turn to lock the tabs.
It never feels like it's quite right but if it won't pull back out I leave it. It's even more fun after it's full of soot.
It also draws a bit of air. That results in some extra buildup in that area. I wish there was a better way to make
that connection.
