Englander 30 Blower question

Hey everybody,
I was hoping for some advice. My AC 130 Blower sounds like two tomcats fighting. It screeches like crazy. I have had it for just under 3 years and tried my best to oil it religiously, but it appears to be failing. ESW advises to oil it and if that doesn't work, buy a new one. While the blower works really well, I am wondering if a put a decent fane behine the wood stove and point it so that it blows over the top of the stove, would I get decent results? It is a basement install and I have a great air flow/heat rise situation with a small fan at top pf steps point down, but the blower is necessary in the really cold months to pump out the heat.

So in short: Has anyone simply tried to use a table fan blowing over the top of the stove to replace a blower? Or opinions on this a replacement for the $150 blower

Yeah my AC-30 started doing that right out of the box and I had to quit using the thing. A previous forum member uses this with his PE stove with a similar heat shield with good results.

Thanks BB. What is the fan in the picture? Since yours crapped out, what have you used?

One he bought off of eBay. I have the stove half in and half out of the fireplace so I have a fan in the lower left corner blowing into the fireplace and it pushes the heat out into the room. I can't pull the piece of crap AC-30 off the stove because it is too close to the back of the fireplace and I don't want to pull the stove.

Not sure exactly how your blower attaches, but I have one of these behind/under my PE stove, pointed straight up. It blows up behind the heat shield and across the top, and does a remarkably good job. It was a temporary thing, but it has become less temporary since it works so well.

I use this set up with mine on low. I either put it there or on a little table near the stove and leave it on low to keep air circulating. Just a cheap little fan that I have since upgraded to a black model. The fan that came with the stove is too loud and only still on the stove for the off chance of an overfire situation and will probably get transferred to a forge I am building at some point.

We use something similar with our NC-30. It's quiet, cheap and makes a big difference in the heat dispersement in the room/house.

I have used 90-120 weight gear lube or Way lube or high temp grease in those pesky fan bearings depending on the style of bearing. My Ac130 went south last season as well ( 3 years also) so it,s time to pony up I suppose. I will have to tear it apart to see what can be done.
