Hey everyone, I’m new to the forum. I’m having an issue with my 6 year old Enviro Meridian. It’s been working great. But all of a sudden no matter what setting (damper, heat, feed and combustion air) it is putting out little heat and the flame barely reaches the top of the burn pot. We’ve always had an active flame which puts out a lot heat. Our stove runs fine and hasn’t thrown any codes. I’ve trouble shot almost everything. All to no prevail. I’m wondering if it is a bad batch of pellets.
 
When was the last time your stove had a complete teardown and cleaning?

Clean your stove I think you will find it full of ash

Sounds like a restricted flue.
Or a restricted air intake.
The intake is new. I just installed a new flex pipe this past fall after we had the carpet removed.

I checked the flue, it is fine. I just got done taking everything out and cleaning the inside really well. It wasn’t as bad as I thought.
It has been running for about 45 minutes now. I’m attaching a photo of what the flame looks like on heat setting 3, feed trim at 3 and combustion blower on 1.
I’m really hoping it’s just a bad few bags of pellets. I went to a different store and picked up some more. Thanks everyone.

Well,try it on high. Sometimes a higher setting is needed with poor quality pellets,and sometimes the draft adjuster has to be moved. is it on a thermostat?
 
Hey, so I bumped I it up to 4. I’m slowing sliding the damper out every now and then to see if it helps. I’ve noticed that it doesn’t matter if I push the damper all the way in or pull it all the way out. The flame stays the same.
 
Hmm. Perhaps a big air leak? Ash pan gasket? Burn pot in properly? Does the combustion blower sound normal?

Doesn’t seem like any leaks. The combustion blower is good as is everything else. The flame is getting better. I’m attributing that to the better quality of pellets being pumped through now.
 
Does anyone think it could be an auger issue? I feel like it’s not dropping enough pellets which is prohibiting the flame from staying constant. Again, I’ve had this stove long enough to where I know something isn’t right.

the number of pellets dropped depends on the amount
of pellets picked up by the auger some times many
some times few there is no adjustment for this except
to turn up the heat making the auger turn more often

I just find it so odd that everything is in great working condition, all the voltage is fine. Compared to last week, I feel like the flame isn’t as constant or where it was before.
 
There are many things that have an effect on the flame
humidity, barometric pressure, where you have the heat level set
the pellets you use, a change in pellets, company, hard, soft, or blended
This is what makes a fire so interesting to watch no 2 fires are the same
Just enjoy the heat and ambiance.

Hey, so my stove was due for its cleaning. I took a flash light and shinned it through my fresh air intake from the back of the stove. I’m hoping the photo is a good representation. The photo is through the air intake inside the stove next to the igniter. I was sliding the damper in and out. Shouldn’t it be sliding left and right? Instead all I saw was what the photo depicts. I took a video but it is too big. In the video you didn’t see the damper sliding at all.

You won't see the damper looking in from the fresh air intake
that passage goes past the igniter to the burn pot. Supplying air
for combustion. The heated air goes up over and past the heat exchanger
down the back of the firebox behind the brick panel set through two passages
to the slider plat(damper) out to the combustion fan then out the exhaust

I understand. The photo is from inside the pellet stove looking to the back if that makes a difference? Wouldn’t the damper block or let air in from there? No matter how far in or out I put the damper the flame stays the same. A short brisk flame.

Open the left side panel (looking at the stove)
you will see the rod to the damper between the back of the firebox
and the combustion motor

You have to push the damper IN to reduce the air to the fire
Flame only get bigger if you set the feed rate higher
adj the damper to get the best flame possible
If you have not cleaned the damper slide area
you can not adj it all the way will not totally close
I take it from your posts that you don't do the maintenance
End of season cleaning maybe it is time to learn how

That’s part of the problem. I had the company come out last time I had it cleaned. They loosened up the damper screw. But it definitely doesn’t close all the way because you can feel it get stuck. I’ve checked the manual and I can’t get a clear idea of how to clean the damper area. I’ve trouble shot ways to try and loosen it but that hasn’t worked. Any ideas?
