After coming from a 77 Defiant ,I can tell this is going to be on hell of a stove.

Even on the break in fire , its squeezing every bit of energy out of the wood.

Nice stove / hearth Im happy with my EQ the thing really cooks Ive been burning a few logs a night and the stove is warm in the AM i think the EQ is a winner.

The Equinox is a beast! The firebox could double as a spare room. When you started it up I felt it warm up suddenly in our side of the country. ;)

I'm probably on my 8th fire now and I'm still trying to figure the beast out. It's easy to light, simple to use and it make plenty of BTU's that last for a long time. I'm still getting smell when hot but have yet to break over 250 on the stove top. I think it is going to take more than one load of wood to get a real light off and it's just to early in the heating season to make that kind of heat.

My wife didn't believe me last evening when there was still heat and visible coals coming from the beast from the fire I lit the day before (last added wood at 9pm the night before last)! We are now in the 30's at night I think my Equinox is struggling to cope with such a small heating job. The glass keeps getting glazed over. If it could talk it would be saying FEED ME.

What are you waiting for?? Feed that sucker a full meal, throw the windows open and get that break in smell cooked off. 250F ain't even touching that beast.

(please follow instruction manual for break in fires)

If they'd let Pokey Jags write the manual, that would be a direct quote from it. %-P Rick

I would also have to liberally sprinkle "get-r-done" and "Giggety, Giggety - all riiiight" amongst the instructions.
