I have a i2450 and the autofan on the bottom won't stay in the tabs. Can the fan function with no issue if it just sits on the hearth?

If the blower outlets and the air inlets on the stove line up well enough, it shouldn't be a problem. I've used non-matching blower - stove combos that lined up reasonably well and worked fine.
You could also maybe get a piece of metal to shim that blower up so it stays in place.

My blower is sitting on a firebrick so it’s high enough for my stove. It’s a generic blower off Amazon.
