May.say goodbye to her.after.all these years. Been a true friend. Moving on. Maybe looking for something more modern as in pellet stove. Always been a gadget man. The Federal allowed me to play with coal and wood. First stove to be EPA approved with its honeycomb cat. But I'm moving on to the high tech and more expensive things in life. Not sure if I should call the junk man, sell her, or let someone take her away for free. Probably worth its.weight in cast iron anyway. What would you do?

I'm not sentimental about things, so I'd unceremoniously yank 'er out and shoot 'er. Might even get lunch from her scrap value.

It is the start of the heating season. Put her up on craigslist and see if you can get a few hundred for it.

A friend has been heating his house with one of the square-shaped Federal Airtight stoves for 15 years. Although we are far from your area, he does look for parts stoves sometimes. If the stove is shot, someone might want it for parts. The local current rate for scrap cast iron is about $0.03/pound.

$0.03/lb is about what I was paid for my 325lb Jotul 8 too come to think of it. For me smashing the stove apart was the easiest way to get it out of the house single-handedly in preparation for receiving the new stove...

Thanks for the Insight, I'd shoot it but probably get hit by the ricochet. I'm thinking craig list though.
