I finally convinced myself to install a key damper in the pipe. To early to give results but as of right now stove is setting at 600 and pipe is at 350 with the damper in the 2 o'clock position. Without the damper stove would probably in the 700+ range. Blue secondaries dancing nicely. Before the damper it would look as if the secondary flames were coming at you 500 MPH. I'm waiting for it to get colder so I can play with the damper in different positions with different load sizes

What sort of chimney configuration do you have?
