Welcome HB. The surround size shouldn't be an obstacle. That is a very wide opening, but simple sheet metal extensions can be added. Get the right stove for the job. You have some options. With an opening that big you can either install a stove with no surround panels or install a free-standing stove on the hearth. Some of the wider inserts on the market are the Buck 91/94, Lopi Freedom Bay with 12" panels.

The Summit is a fine insert. It would need side extensions to the panel, but any sheetmetal shop can fab those up. Whatever your choice, know that in a couple weeks prices will go up and incentives may disappear. Now is the time to buy before the season warms up.
