Firebrick in Lopi Answer Hybrid

Hello. This is my first experience with a EPA wood burning insert. I have a Lopi answer hybrid and noticed the firebrick doesn't cover all surfaces in Firebox. My understanding is that the firebrick needed to cover all steel surfaces to prevent damage. As you.can see in pic the factory installed firebrick only covers half of the surface the second pic show the gap with a piece of wood looking from the top down. Is it supposed to he like this or do I need to call Lopi for some service. Please Help!

That's a false understanding, especially in a steel stove. The stove looks fine.
