Got a call from a buddy . "Want some ash that has been down for 18 months..... Answer is always yes. This is 1/3 of it(broken image removed)(broken image removed)

Good stuff.

Funny how wood shows up with the right species, age and quantities sometimes. Good job!

Yep the last month has been good. Figure 6-8 cord of two year old bucked oak, ash and maple.

Emerald Ash Borer gave me the 'gift' of killing the 50" dia ash out back last spring. Yes, 50". I have cut and split it all in hopes of using it after a few more years. Anyone have commentary as to how well it'll burn and after how many years ( stacked and facing east/west with good aeration)?

The limb wood will be ready way before the stumpwood, and at 50", you gotta' lotta' stumpwood. That ash borer is insane. Dead and dying ash is the only thing I see when I drive anymore. Hideous. Well, I'd say that limb wood split 2-3" could be ready in six optimal months, but the stump wood will be 12 months for sure. Ash starts off with low moisture and gives it up pretty easily. Even w/o a MM, the heft of a piece ought to be a good indication of some progress.

Boy that's an ash load of ash.
Good score.
