Free Pine in Dennis, MA

I'm a pellet guy but had to cut up three old pines that blew down this winter. I cut them into 14-16" rounds and they're piled at the end of my driveway in Dennis, MA. Take them, split them, and you have a good supply of wood for future winters. Message me if interested and I'll give you more information and the address.

No, no, no! Well seasoned pine, like any other wood, can be burned in fireplaces and stoves. Creosote is a function of combustion temperature and moisture -- not the species of wood. Oy!

Don't worry, I think Mr. Dale is being sarcastic.

Of course maybe I assume so because I just scored a pickup load of free pine bucked to length this morning. For my furnace 3+ years from now, of course.

Yes, that is sarcasm. I burn pine in my stove like everyone else on here. I swear everytime I see an ad for pine on CL that is mentioned.

Ha! As i noted, i'm a pellet guy so i'm not familiar with the wood wits! But "Art" on cape cod craigslist emailed me earlier to make the same warning about pine in fireplaces -- and he was serious.

Gosh, no worries from me. I'm in no position to scrutinize about avoiding pine, I spent my whole life hearing (and believing) the conventional wisdom so I never burned in our old stove. Moved to this place a few years ago, cleared out a lot of pine into a big burnpile. Now I've learned I can burn it well inside. Sure wish I hadn't wasted all that out of ignorance.

A couple pines have been dropped recently around here.. the entire tree was turned into chips.. They wouldn't even let anyone have it. Semi-aggravating.
